Coloring Book Zine
Coloring books are interesting because they instigate a certain style by providing form and excluding color. This allows the finished product to be a collaboration of two minds: the form artist and the color artist. The series was connected and driven based on size rather than theme, and by deviating from the typical scale of coloring books, it allowed me to explore different patterns and designs.
I constructed the large-scale paintings of the coloring book content pages into a massive book themselves. I like the interaction between the reader and book when it is uncomfortably-large. Rather than making the pages into individual hanging art pieces, I felt as though they belonged bound together.
