Grant Recipient
Received $5,500 combined to conduct textile design research in Stone Town of Zanzibar, Tanzania to study pattern making under a faculty mentor, Karen Steen of Cazanova College and the local artisans of the island such as Farouque Abdela, Moussa Studio, Omi of Saifa Screen printing, and Sasik. 

 

VCU Arts Undergraduate Research Grant

Grant Recipient
Created the "Kids Curate!" program in a team with Shannon Brady, Jane Taylor, and Ally Palmer (Creative Ad & Art Education students) to work with local middle schools in Richmond and teach kids enrolled in the program what it means to have a visual arts related career. $3800 awarded for art workshops with the kids enrolled and final art exhibition curated by kids November 2014 at mOb studio on First Friday Richmond event.

 

Rotary International Student Youth Exchange  

August 2010 - August 2011
Exchange Student 
Selected from 28 students to serve a 12-month ambassadorial exchange, representing Rotary district 7120 of the US. Lived with three different host families in Stuttgart and attended a local german High School. Developed proficiency in conversational German by travelling independently and in groups through Europe.
